Swanzey Church to Offer Bible Study of Luke

The First Congregational Church of Swanzey announced a fall study of the Gospel of Luke will begin on Thursday, September 14, at 10:30am.  The course is open to any interested person and does not require an advanced understanding of Christian Scripture. The class will be taught by the Rev. Dr. Joseph David Stinson, a member of the congregation.

Luke is the only non-Jewish author in the entire Bible. He wrote both this gospel and also the Acts of the Apostles.  A traveling companion of Paul, Luke seems to have collected many of the early stories of Jesus from Mary, his mother. Luke included in this work several parables not mentioned in the other three gospels. Among these are the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son. The author is a particularly fine story teller and his gospel makes for good reading.

Copies of the syllabus are available by contacting the church office, 603-352-6689 or the church website www.swanzeyucc.org. The church address is 679 Old Homestead Hwy in Swanzey. For more information, please call the church office and ask Dr. Stinson to call you.
